On February 27th the Trudeau family landed in Delhi to commence a 7-day official tour involving round table discussions a variety of trade deals and sanctions. The tour is meant to strengthen relations between India and Canada, but the recent rise in extremist Sikh activity in Canada may cause a shadow on the meetings.
A clash between US–Kurdish forces and those of the Assad regime resulted in scores of Russian deaths. Neither the US nor Russia has made any affirmative statement as to why Russian fighters were assisting in the attack on the US-held base, but unofficial sources have stated that the Russians were working with a mercenary agency called Wagner. Two Russians state that more than 200 contract soldiers died in the attack.
After an improvised explosion on the Israeli-Palestinian border severely injured two Israeli soldiers, Israel responded with a pair of airstrikes on eighteen ‘terror targets’ on the Gaza strip, all belonging to the Palestinian Sunni-Islamic group, Hamas.
On 17 February, the killer of 7-year-old Zainab Ansari was convicted and sentenced to death four times over, by public execution. Police state that they matched DNA from eight girls’ bodies, including Zainab’s, with 24-year-old Imran Ali, the convicted rapist and murderer.
At least 20 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Borno, northern Nigeria. Three suicide bombers, all believed to be women, detonated their explosives in a crowded fish market this Saturday.
