IONA Journal of Economics

The IONA Journal is pleased to announce its forthcoming Volume IX, set for publication in 2024.

When is the submission deadline?

The second deadline for submission is Friday, January 29th, 2024 at 11:59PM PST.

The first deadline for submissions was Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 11:59PM PST.

Who can submit to the Journal?

Any current or recently graduated UBC undergraduate student may submit their work to the Journal.

Previously published research papers are not eligible for consideration. Authors may submit their work to other publications. If your paper passes through the review process, you will be required to select the IONA Journal as your exclusive venue of publication.

What can I submit?

We accept unpublished research papers, theses, and long-form essays. We have no preference between theoretical and empirical work.

Previously published papers have addressed a wide range of topics within economics, including philosophy, finance, the environment, culture, and global affairs. Interdisciplinary research is accepted and encouraged.

How does the editorial process work?

Beginning in September 2023, your paper will undergo two rounds of blind peer-review. Top submissions will proceed to an additional round and then be reviewed by the Faculty Review Committee made up of UBC professors. In early 2024, a final publication decision will be made.

How do I submit?

You are highly encouraged to submit your research to the IONA Journal of Economics. In order to be eligible for publication in the IONA Journal of Economics, your paper must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Dedicated to a topic in economics or relevant area (political science, international relations, sociology, philosophy, etc.)
